About ESOL Services
The goal of ESOL services is to provide all students who speak a language other than English (and who qualify for ESOL services) adequate support to allow these students to access the content curriculum in a meaningful and appropriately challenging way, while also learning English. ESOL is not in addition to other classes, rather, students are taken out of their classrooms and placed in a small-group setting to work on the common core standards but in a smaller group and with additional English language support. While in ESOL, students will have practice in all four language domains (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) with a heavy focus on vocabulary. Please note that, although your child is not in his/her classroom, he/she is not missing any instructional time. |
